New Sidewalks and Pool Socials Top Week Ahead

A look at what to expect in the Chathams this week.

Each Monday we welcome you back to the work week with a look at what to expect in the Chathams. From content you'll find on Patch as the week goes on to community activities, here's what you need to know this week:

1) You need to know about sidewalks: There's a new one going in this week along Watchung Avenue between Girard and Hillside Avenues. This means the eastbound lane will be closed Monday from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m., so plan an alternate route and expect delays.

2) You need to know about movie night: The Library of the Chathams is showing "Oz: The Great and Powerful" at 7 p.m. Monday. The screening includes popcorn and drinks!

3) You need to know about the Fairmount Country Store: It has new ownership, new decor and a new menu, and we'll tell you all about it later this week.

4) You need to know about being social: Colony Pool will host a "summer bash" for adults at 8:30 p.m. Saturday. It's part of their efforts to make the pool a must-attend club, a social gathering place for grown-ups as well as kids.
