Chatham Turkey Trot Kicks Off Thanksgiving Morning

Fifth annual 5K, 1 Mile Family Fun Run benefits Chatham Township Volunteer Fire Department, Diabetes Research Institute.

The fifth annual Chatham Turkey Trot is set for Thanksgiving morning.

The event, which includes a 1 mile family fun run and 5K race, benefits the Chatham Township Volunteer Fire Department and the Diabetes Research Institute.

Last year, 435 runners participated, helping to raise $14,300 for the two organizations.

The race starts at the corner of Seminole Way and Van Houton Avenue in Chatham Township, and takes runners through the Highlands section of the township.

Participants can register and pay online at TheChathamTurkeyTrot.org. Participants who register before Nov. 19 receive an official race T-shirt.

Advance registration for the 1 Mile Family Fun Run is $15 per person, and advance 5K registration is $20.

On race day, registration is $25 all races. Make checks payable to “The Chatham Turkey Trot”

  •    8:00 AM – Race Day Registration/warm-ups
  • ~ 8:30 AM – 1 Mile Family Fun Run
  • ~ 9:00 AM – Program/National Anthem - 5K Race follows
  • ~ 9:50 AM – Award ceremony follows the conclusion of the race         

The Chatham Township Volunteer Fire Department will hang a 50-foot American flag from Ladder 12, its 100-foot aerial ladder truck, above the race course as runners race through the scenic neighborhood.
