Britons Hold Baby Shower for New 'Royal' Arrival

Donations collected from the event will go towards the New Jersey Battered Women's Center

British expatriates and former residents of the United Kingdom gathered at A Taste of Asia Tuesday for a very royal affair.

Exactly one year after the same group celebrated the diamond jubilee of Queen Elizabeth, they gathered once more to throw a baby shower in celebration of the pending birth of a new prince or princess to the royal family.

The celebration included toys and decorations which also made an appearance at last year's party, including several Union Jacks, a bobble-head toy of Prince William and Princess Kate, masks of the royal family and a large cardboard cut-out of the queen.

Pimm's was served, as was lunch for 50, and patriotic and folk songs were sung including "Rule, Britannia!", "God Save the Queen" and a round of three country dances sung by professionals.

The women also brought donations, including diapers, blankets, baby shampoo and other baby goods to be donated to the New Jersey Battered Women's Center. Money was also collected for the center.
