Volunteerism- Chatham Borough is kept vibrant by its many volunteers who serve on numerous Commissions and Committees at no pay and often donating their own funds to cover the costs of projects. The spirit of volunteerism is infectious at its best.
We are in need of dedicated volunteers in a number of areas in the Borough. Especially needed are volunteers for the Green Initiatives Committee, Shade Tree Commission, Historic Preservation Commission, Green Fair Planning Committee and many others. You can spend as much or as little time as your schedule allows. The idea is to give something back to the community. Most committees/commissions involve attending one meeting per month which can last an hour to an hour and a half. Again, if you can only devote a little time, we'll find something for you to assist with. No one is expected to undertake any task that will take up all your free time.
To consider becoming a Borough Volunteer, you might want to attend a meeting of the committee/commission that interests you. If you decide to volunteer, you'll find the volunteer sign-up form on the new Borough website. Complete the application and mail it to Borough Hall at the address listed on the form.
If you have any questions as to what is involved in being a volunteer, please don't hesitate to call me to discuss. My phone number is 973-635-5373.
