ReplyHonestly, would you confront three criminals to protect someone else's car? I wouldn't. I'd call the cops and stay out of the way.

John, (below) the percentage of high school graduates who go on to 4 year colleges is not an indicator of how great a school system is... honestly, is that the criteria? And the colleges they go to? Yes, I do know what schools the vast majority of Chatham grads attend, and again I have to ask if schools like Villanova or Lafayette or other 3rd tier colleges is the benchmark of a fantastic district. If that is your belief, then more power to you. We have different expectations.

ReplyI'm sorry, but I have four kids attending the Chatham schools, and these schools are not "fantastic". It's simply not true. It is an average district with average teachers and programs. Those who want an enriched educational experience for their kids have to pay out of pocket for it, and yes, I know that is my prerogative and nobody is forcing me to enroll them in other programs and or hire a private tutor. But I wish everyone would stop lauding the Chatham as some sort of holy grail of school districts. And it does upset me to see my taxes increase every year when the same teachers with their same limited teaching ability return every year as well. (And I'm speaking about the elementary, middle, and high school levels... )

Yep. I see those chat-in-the-middle-of-the-street moms too, expecting everyone else to inch around them as they discuss god knows what. Oblivious or narcissistic, I can't tell. And god forbid you tap the horn on them... you'd think someone just spray-painted their Escalade. Again, can't tell whether it's being stupid or self-absorbed. Probably equal parts of both.

ReplyAgain, basketball courts have a much broader appeal for all age groups (from kids to adults), are relatively easy to maintain, and while some do get hurt occasionally, don't pose the same danger of physical injury as skateboards do. It's a win-win.

This is just a case of a senior citizen with too much time on her hands, looking for something to say/do. It's clear to all reasonable people that "Chatham will not become a desert" as she claims, but Mrs. Drew feels that without her, we're all going to chop down our trees this afternoon. She also doesn't seem to understand the highly unique circumstances of that last storm. All she knows is that a tree she used to like is now gone.
