ReplyHi Garry,
I don’t think I got one of your daughter but we will have some of the kids coming.

ReplyHi Mike. I have to look into it more but those rights of way are generally held by the state DOT not the towns. What I would need to research is the history. In a few cases, homes were built on the trail itself but I don’t know the circumstances.

ReplyHi Jeff. I believe they were speaking of Barkhamsted not Burlington. That population is about 3,600.

ReplyThere’s also many features available through the town’s GIS system, including distance to surrounding properties, wetlands, etc. at http://ags2.cdm.com/fl/cantonct/main.html

ReplyHi Larry and Jeff. The Barkhamsted facility is less than 12,000 square feet as well, compared to about the 20,000 Canton is looking at. There are other programming differences as well but I don’t know all of them offhand. It’s not my place to take a position but I just forgot to mention that the building is smaller than what Canton is looking for. Thanks for all the input folks and for keeping the comments respectful. We certainly welcome all viewpoints.

ReplyHi Betty. I just updated the story and town officials did address the Barkhamsted question. I didn’t include every point but some of what they said is now in the story.

Very true. They were indeed off the ground but there wasn’t much room for him to climb!
