Yes. We offer this service through Digital NJ which allows patrons to dowload eBooks from our homepage. We will be offering another class on Tuesday, Feb 19 from 7 to 8:30 p.m so do sign up by calling the library.

Melissa, I can understand your frustration. You were keen to download ebooks to your Kindle, and you thought that because they were electronic you would get them immediately.

EBook publishers DO NOT ALLOW US TO LEND THE SAME BOOK TO MORE THAN ONE PATRON AT THE SAME TIME.

Also, the ebooks that most libraries buy - rent, actually, because we do not own ebooks the way we do printed books - are best sellers. So they are the books that are most in demand. But, like print copies of bestsellers, many patrons have holds on them. Just as you would have to put a hold on a book in print, you have to put a hold on an ebook. What our library has done is to become a member of Net Advantage. This means that once a week, we check the list of Chatham patrons who have holds on ebooks. When we find more than 4 holds on a title, we buy a second copy. We hope that this will allow our patrons to get ebooks faster.

Please put a hold on our ebooks! We want people to use NJ Digital Library, and get the books that they want.
