Recycle Archaic Electronics, County Reminds Residents

Got a new tablet over the holidays? Great, but just remember: tossing old electronics into the trash is against the law.

Did you upgrade your home electronics over the holidays? Morris County wants to remind you that the "out with the old" in "out with the old, in with the new" doesn't mean throwing that two-year-old, 320gb laptop (so primitive!) into the trash. The Morris County Municipal Utilities Authority reminds residents that televisions, computers, electronic tablets, e-book readers, and monitors that have been replaced by new electronic holiday gifts must be taken to designated recycling collection points as required by state law. A list of those designated recycling collection points in Morris County is available on the MUA website, www.mcmua.com. Free Household Hazardous Waste Event Set for May 12

Open to all Morris County residents.

Got some potentially hazardous waste hanging around and have no idea what to do with it? The Morris County Municipal Utilities Authority would like to help with a free drop-off event on May 12. The press release is below: The Morris County Municipal Utilities Authority will conduct a free Household Hazardous Waste Disposal and Computer/T.V. Drop-off event on Saturday, May 12, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Morris County Public Safety Training Academy, 500 West Hanover Ave., Parsippany. Morris County residents will be able to drop-off at no charge unwanted hazardous materials and electronic devices including computers, monitors, printers, scanners, fax machines and televisions from their homes. This event is for all Morris County residents. …
