How are your favorite Chatham High School sports teams doing? On Wednesday, Oct. 10: The girls tennis team raised its record to 16-2 with a 4-1 win over New Providence. Victorious at their respective positions were: The volleyball team fell to Mount Olive 2-0. The Cougars were defeated in straight sets 25-16 and 25-20 by Mount Olive. Carolyn Johnson had eight assists, Caroline Beardsley had five kills and three digs. Natalie Schroder had four digs. The JV girls tennis team defeated New Providence 13-0. No matter what Chatham High School sports team you like to cheer for, you'll get your chance this weekend at Cougar Weekend, which begins Thursday with a JV girls tennis match and ends Saturday with a football game against West Morris. The schedule for Cougar Weekend can be found below, but in the meantime, here's how your favorite CHS sports teams did Tuesday: The girls field hockey team defeated West Morris Central 2-1 when Hannah Reader scored on a cross from sophomore Kelly Horan with 38 seconds left in the first half. Reader also scored on a pass from Brynn Gilligan in the frist half, accounting for both of Chatham's goals. Kimmy Pyhel had 10 saves for her ninth win of the season. Chatham is 9-3 on the season. How are your favorite Chatham High School sports teams doing? On Saturday, Oct. 6: Several members of the girls tennis team competed in state tournaments. State Individual Results are below. On Sunday, Oct. 7: The boys soccer team had its five-game winning streak snapped when they fell to Morris Catholic 1-0 in Denville. Bryan Medina scored in the second overtime. On Monday, Oct. 8: The boys soccer team continued its solid play with a thrilling 2-1 overtime road victory under the lights over cross-town rival Madison. How did your favorite Chatham High School sports teams do Thursday? The girls tennis team has reason to celebrate as they shut out Irvington with a decisive 5-0 win in the NJSIAA opening round. Victorious in their respective positions were: The boys soccer team defeated Morristown 4-1. The game brings Chatham's unbeaten streak to six games. Brian Graham scored a hat trick and David Gill chipped in a goal. Michael Barber and Will Munn each had an assist. The Cougars travel to Morris Catholic on Sunday at noon for a second-round MCT game. Danielle Melchionna scored the games only goal on a pass from Maddy Hamilton on a corner with 14:57 left in the second half. The Cougars are now 7-2 on the season. How are your favorite Chatham High School sports teams doing? On Thursday, Sept: 27: The girls soccer team stormed back from a first half deficit to win 1-0 against New Providence. After great interplay from Lina Proska and Kelsey Burke, Burke struck into the top corner of the net from 30 yards to tie the game midway through the second half. Proska fired the game winner from good build up play from McCall Moore and Kelsey Burke as Proska run and shot from 25 yards sailed high past the keeper into the net with 14 minutes remaining. The following games are scheduled for Thursday: The girls cross country team faces Mendham High School and Parsippany Hills High School in a dual meet at Greystone-Central Park. The girls tennis team travels to Madison High School for a 4 p.m. match against the Dodgers. How did your favorite Chatham High School sports teams do Monday? The boys soccer team defeated Roxbury on the road and in overtime 3-2. David Gill scored the first goal for the Cougars and the game winner in the second overtime session. Michael Barber also tallied a goal for Chatham. Chatham now stands at 3-3-1 on the season. The girls field hockey team defeated Koinonia Academy 5-0. Hannar Reader, Maddy Hamiltion, Megan Murray, Brynn Gilligan and Megan Hoffman all scored goals. Hoffman's goal put Chatham up 3-0 and marked her first varsity goal. Chatham is now 5 - 2 on the season and was awarded the eigtht seed in the Morris County Tournament. The Chatham High School Cougars start a new week of games with some tough losses at their backs. On Friday: The volleyball team lost a thrilling three-set match 2-1 with West Morris Mendham. After the girls won the first set 25-23, Cougrs dropped the second set 31-29 and the third set 25-22. Leading the Cougars were Carolyn Johnson (14 assists, 8 digs), Arian Diaz-Saavedra (8 digs) and Rachel Prill (8 kills, 9 digs).
