Deadly Summit Beating Could Get Trio Up to 18 Years
Morristown 21-year-old among those who pleaded guilty to aggravated manslaughter.
Three men charged in 2010 with the death of Abelino Mazariego, a 47-year-old Summit resident, pleaded guilty to aggravated manslaughter, Union County Prosecutor Theodore J. Romankow said. Nigel Dumas, 21, of Morristown, Khayri Williams-Clark, 20, of Summit, and Hakean Fitzgerald, 19, of Summit, each plead guilty before Superior Court Judge Stuart Peim. According to the release, Fitzgerald was previously charged as a minor. However, he was waived to adult court on Jan. 13, 2011. Under the terms of the pleas agreements, Fitzgerald faces 18 years in prison while Dumas and Williams-Clark each face 15 years, according to the release. Sentencing is scheduled for March 8, 2013.
