Some buildings still out, but the lines feeding into the condos are energized, mayor says.
Chatham Township Mayor Nicole Hagner said power lines going into the Chatham Glen condominium complex were energized Thursday afternoon. Several buildings within the complex remained without power due to repairs still outstanding, Hagner said, but all power lines within the complex were live. "JCP*L has a list of the buildings without power," Hagner said, and will continue to work on getting the power restored fully to the condos. Hagner asked residents to check with neighbors to see if power was restored. Over 30 utility poles were damaged in the corridor along Southern Boulevard and River Road, which feed power into the condos along River Road. Jay Road also had its power restored Thursday. Chatham Borough Police Chief Philip J. Crosson and Chatham Township Mayor Nicole Hagner said residents suffered no new outages as a result of Wednesday's nor'easter. Substantial outages remain in both towns, including the condo complexes along River Road in Chatham Township. JCP&L released updated outage numbers which state 730 customers in Chatham Borough and 1,590 customers in Chatham Township—a total of 3,631 and 4,428 residents, respectively—remain without power as of Thursday. Restoration estimates according to JCP&L can be seen in the table below.

Gov. Chris Christie praised the National Guard's work in New Jersey during the aftermath of Hurricane Sandy, and reportedly said he expects all power to be restored to the state by early Sunday. Christie spoke at a press conference on Thursday, flanked by members of the National Guard at an armory in Somerset. "I wanted to come here and thank these men and women as an example of the over 2,200 National Guardsmen I ordered activated in the prelude to Hurricane Sandy," Christie said.
