In the weeks since Mary Rohe and Mimi Mehta appeared before the Chatham Township Committee and asked them to rebuild the Chatham Skate Park, the two have been hard at work collecting signatures for a petition to that same end. Two Chatham mothers established an electronic petition Tuesday, asking residents to support Superintendent Jim O'Neill's proposed contract extension. The petition is aimed at Kathleen Serafino, urging the Morris County executive superintendent of schools to approve the pact that would exceed Gov. Chris Christie's proposed school administrators' cap. The petition reads, "By signing this petition, you are asking the Morris County Executive County Superintendent of Schools, Kathleen Serafino, to approve the renegotiated contract of the School District of the Chathams Board of Ed with its Superintendent of Schools, Jim O'Neill." Stacey Ewald, who, along with fellow parent Michelle Clark, began the petition Tuesday morning, said these types…

Stacey it has got to start somewhere. Taking on the pension/unions is a tall order for anyone. No one want to lose control of their ability to hire and pay someone but our system is set up to just ram everything down our throats. Basically, it is a tryanny of the majority. You either get on board of the money train or get run over. Chatham has become one of those NJ towns run by parents with kids…   more ›
