The Madison and Chatham Borough Health Department administered 80 flu shots Monday, Jan. 14 and about 40 more Tuesday, Jan. 15, Health Officer Lisa Gulla said. Overall, January has been a busy month for administering the shots. First, residents mainly seemed to be bringing children who are required to get them to stay in daycare and preschool programs. Then, as the number of people getting sick and the amount of media attention increased, so did demand, Gulla said. The Madison Health Department, which also serves Chatham Borough, Chatham Township, Morris Plains, Butler and Victory Gardens, will have a new health officer starting next week. Lisa Gulla, who was the health officer in Edison, is due to start her new job as the head of the Madison Health Department on Monday, Madison Board of Health President John Hoover said. Hoover said Gulla brings 20 years of experience, has two MBAs, and is involved with county and state health organizations.
