A weak storm front expected to bring up to two inches of snow starting Monday night.
Cross your fingers. As of Sunday, weather projections indicate a storm front entering the region that could give us—gasp—a white Christmas. According to the National Weather Service, there is a 20 percent chance of snow on Tuesday, with a temperature ultimately reaching 38 degrees. Stephen Pellettiere, with Ion Weather based at the Morristown Municipal Airport, said current projections appear to have the small storm begin producing at about 9 p.m. on Christmas Eve, tapering off at the latest 6 a.m. Tuesday morning. "A little storm is passing to our south," he said. "There's a tenth of an inch of moisture, which translates to about an inch of snow." Some areas, including southern Morris County, could see as much as two inches of the white …

That's a lot of toys. The Morris County Park Police have again led an effort seeking donations and distributing toys for children of all ages in need for the holidays. Once known as “Saddle Up for Toys,” a program began in 2002 by Sgt. Timmy Albine has grown into a massive annual donation program. This season, in memory of Albine, the toy drive has been renamed the “Timmy Albine Memorial Toy Drive." Now, in its 10th year, over 4,200 toys were collected and are now being distributed throughout Morris County and areas of New Jersey hit by Hurricane Sandy. With the assistance of Morris County residents, Morris County Park Commission, the Republican National Headquarters, Morristown-Beard School, and Exxon’s Retired Executives program, the …

"As our nation continues to endure deep economic impacts, more and more families are seeking extraordinary assistance," said Morristown Corp. spokesperson Jasmin Sacarello in a press release. The Salvation Army has a responsibility, she said, to continue providing resources which include childcare programs (for infants, toddlers, preschool, and school-age children); on-site food pantries; emergency homeless shelters, for women and children; shelters for men; and shelters for families. Major Walter L. Droz noted in the press release, "that with the advent of natural disasters and the …

About one million New Jersey residents and 43.3 million Americans will travel 50 miles or more this Thanksgiving weekend, AAA New Jersey predicts. The impact of Hurricane Sandy is still uncertain, especially in the mid-Atlantic and northeast regions. Cathleen Lewis, the director of Public Affairs for AAA New Jersey, said, "While many residents [of New Jersey] may cancel travel plans, many others may change travel plans to accommodate or assist displaced friends and family." How will we get there? Sandy may influence how New Jerseyans will travel this holiday. As Lewis said, "Rental cars have become a coveted commodity by those who lost vehicles in the storm.” AAA recommends confirming any existing reservations for a rental car with the …
