Two Chathamites Graduate from Clemson

One Chatham man, Christopher Dart, graduated cum laude.

Two Local residents graduated from Clemson University on Dec. 20, 2012. They are: In all, 1,200 students received degrees at two winter graduation ceremonies at Littlejohn Coliseum. Graduates in the College of Agriculture, Forestry and Life Sciences; College of Architecture, Arts and Humanities; and College of Engineering and Science received their degrees at a morning ceremony. Those from the College of Business and Behavioral Science and the College of Health Education and Human Development received theirs in the afternoon ceremony. Colgate Awards Degrees to Chathamites

Chatham natives also earned academic honors this year.

Two natives of Chatham were among the 661 students who earned their undergraduate degrees from Colgate University this year. Theodore Ellis Ake Jr. graduated with a B.A. in German. Kirsten Marisa Kellstrom graduated with a B.A. in Spanish and Applied Mathematics from Colgate University. Colgate's class of 2012 ended their undergraduate careers with a graduation rate of 89.7%, which is among the highest in the nation. Mark H. Murphy '77, president and CEO of the Green Bay Packers, delivered an inspiring keynote address to a packed house. Kellstrom, along with fellow Chatham resident Erin Theresa Murray, received the Dean's Award for academic excellence in the 2011 fall semester. Murray is a member of the class of 2013 studying Psychology. …

Chatham Woman Graduates U. of New Hampshire

Two Chatham natives made the Dean's List for the spring semester.

Chatham native Allison Woerner received her bachelor of arts degree in Communication from the University of New Hampshire during their commencement ceremony on Saturday, May 19. Two other Chatham residents were named to the Dean's List for the university's 2012 spring semester: Students named to the Dean's List at the University of New Hampshire have earned recognition through their superior scholastic performance. Highest Honors are awarded to students who earn a semester grade point average of 3.7 or better out of a possible 4.0. Students with a 3.5 to 3.69 average are awarded high honors and students whose grade point average is 3.2 through 3.49 are awarded honors. Chatham Residents Graduate from Cornell

The spring semester Dean's List also includes Chatham names.

Three residents of the Chathams received diplomas from Cornell University at the Ivy League school's commencement ceremony on May 27. Stephan was valedictorian at Chatham High School in 2008. This fall she will begin work on her PhD. in Ecological Engineerign at the State University of New York College of Environmental Sciences and Forestry in Syracuse, NY. Two other students, Tucker Doherty and Russell Silver-Fagen, were named to Cornell University College of Arts and Sciences' Dean's List for 2012 spring semester. Silver-Fagen also made the Dean's List in the 2011 fall semester. The College of Arts and Sciences is Cornell University's largest undergraduate college. Chatham Residents Graduate from RIT

Rochester Institute of Technology (RIT) awarded degrees to two natives of Chatham. Anthony Folenta graduated with a bachelor of Fine Arts degree in new media design and imaging from RIT's College of Imaging Arts and Sciences in the spring 2012 quarter. Elizabeth Emerick, also a native of Chatham, graduated from RIT with a Master of Science degree in packaging science from RIT's College of Applied Science and Technology in the winter 2011–2012 quarter. Rochester Institute of Technology offers degrees in computing, engineering, imaging science, sustainability, and fine and applied arts, in addition to unparalleled support services for deaf and hard-of-hearing students. RIT enrolls 17,500 full- and part-time students in more than 200 programs.

Chatham Natives Graduate from Denison U.

Matthew Kepler and Christopher Black earn degrees.

Two Chatham men were among the 513 students at Denison University to receive their diplomas at the school's 171st commencement ceremony on Sunday, May 13. Matthew Robert Kepler was awarded a bachelor of arts degree from President Dale Thomas Knobel. Kepler majored in economics. He studied in New Zealand for a semester with the College of Global Studies Program. Christopher Cole Black was awarded a Bachelor of Arts degree. Black graduated with a double major in communication and international studies. He was senior class co-governor and a recipient of the Denison Alumni Award. Chatham Natives Graduate from Miami University

Brian Ballard makes the Dean's List of the university.

Miami University of Ohio awarded 3,219 degrees to students at their spring commencement exercises on Saturday, May 5. Among those students were three natives of Chatham: One other Miami University student from Chatham, Brian Kingsley Ballard, was named to Miami University's Dean's List for the 2012 spring semester. Ballard also made the Dean's List in the fall 2011 semester, along with John Francis Armstrong, another Chatham native. The Dean's List is reserved for Miami University students who achieved a 3.5 or better grade point average. Such students are named to the dean's list to recognize their academic performance. Chatham Residents Graduate Providence College

Graduates also made the college Dean's List.

Three residents of the Chathams earned their bachelors degrees from Providence College this year. Providence held their 94th commencement ceremony on Sunday, May 20. Over 900 students received their undergraduate diplomas that day, including: Barresi and Winschuh were also named to the spring 2012 semester Dean's List. To qualify for Providence College's Dean's List, students must achieve at least a 3.55 grade point average with a minimum of 12 credits. The commencement address was delivered by Viola Davis, who received an honorary doctorate in fine arts.
