Cougars Head to State Tournament Saturday

The girls of Chatham High School's swim team head to their fourth state championship meet in five years.

After another successful season, the Chatham High School girls swim team heads back to a place they're very familiar with — the final round of state championships. Coach Frank DiGiacomo said every member of the team has performed their best in this undefeated 15-0 season, which Megan Gesell has blogged about for Patch. "The whole team is very strong. They're all very good swimmers," DiGiacomo said. "I know exactly how fast they can go." Chatham girls won the final round of the NJSIAA Group Tournament, Public B last week against Haddonfield, the same team they defeated in 2012 for the state championship. Hockey Team Defeats Kinnelon

Swim teams move on to team championships.

The Chatham High School hockey team defeated Kinnelon Tuesday 3-1, bringing their season record to 13-1-8. Kinnelon scored once in the first period, and Chatham followed with two goals in the second period and once more in the third. Trip Burke, Brian Leonard and Teddy Simson all scored goals, with Robert Graziano making one assist. Goalie Jordan Boles made 22 saves. Kinnelon Pulls Ahead for Victory Over Chatham

After tying the score, Cougars lose momentum when outscored 9-1 the rest of the first game.

The Chatham girls volleyball team fell 2-0 to Kinnelon in its season-opener on Monday afternoon on the road. The Lady Cougars made some runs throughout the game but the Colts proved to be too much for the visitors.   Game 1 Game 2 Kinnelon (2-0) 25 25 Chatham (0-1) 17 16 IN SHORT In what could have been a turning point of the first game, Marissa Young had a kill that closed out a string of five straight points for the Cougars. The play tied the game at 16; however, Chatham was outscored 9-1 the rest of the way as Kinnelon cruised to a 25-17 victory. Young finished with seven attempts, four kills and one error.
