Cops: Two Teens Arrested in Township Drug Bust

The following information was obtained directly from the Chatham Township Police Department. It does not indicate a conviction.

Two teens were arrested on drug charges following a bust earlier this month at a Thornley Drive residence, Chatham Township Police said Thursday. Erik Bloom, 18, of Chatham Township, was charged with possession with intent to distribute over 1 ounce of marijuana, possession of under 50 grams of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia, police said. Police also arrested a juvenile who was charged with possession with intent to distribute over one ounce of marijuana, possession of over 50 grams of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia, according to police. According to police, members of the Chatham Township Police Department and the Morris County Sheriff's Department K-9 Unit executed a search warrant on a Thornley Drive …

Cranbury Man Arrested on Madison Warrant

The following information was obtained directly from the Chatham Township Police Department. It does not indicate a conviction.

The Chatham Township Police Department arrested a Cranbury man Wednesday for allegedly driving with a suspended license. Sergeant Thomas Miller stopped a vehicle on Loantaka Way at about 11:40 a.m. Wednesday for an equipment violation, police said. According to police, a subsequent computer check determined the driver, Raymond T. Ott, 38, of Cranbury, had an active warrant from the Madison Court for failing to appear on a prior traffic summons. Ott was transported to police headquarters where he was processed and later released after posting bail, police said.

Newark Woman Arrested for Alleged Drunk Driving

The following information was obtained directly from the Chatham Township Police Department. It does not indicate a conviction.

The Chatham Township Police Department arrested a Newark woman Saturday for allegedly driving while intoxicated along Shunpike Road. Officer Kelly Sretenovic stopped a vehicle on Shunpike Road at 3:17 a.m. Saturday for a speeding violation, according to police. A subsequent roadside investigation by Sretenovic determined the driver, Iesha Clinton, 30, of Newark was operating her vehicle while intoxicated, police said. Clinton was placed under arrest, transported to police headquarters and processed, according to police. She was later released to a friend on her own recognizance, police said. Clinton is shceduled to appear in municipal court on Jan. 24, according to police.

Police Arrest Twp. Man on Outstanding Warrant

The following information was obtained directly from the Chatham Township Police Department. It does not indicate a conviction.

Kenneth Finnen, 44, of Chatham Township was arrested Monday for an equipment violation and outstanding warrants from Madison and Chatham. Patrolman Michael Sawyer stopped a vehicle on Pine Street for an equipment violation, according to police. A subsequent check determined that the driver, Finnen, had a suspended license and warrants for his arrest, police said. Finnen was placed under arrest, transported to police headquarters and later released after posting bail in the amount of $1,000, according to police. The warrants, one each from Chatham and Madison, were issued after Finnen failed to appear in court to answer prior charges for driving with a suspended license, police said. Finnen is scheduled to appear in municipal court on Jan. …

Township Police Spread Holiday Cheer

The department is collecting toys for children in need.

The Chatham Township Police Department is doing their part to spread bring the holiday spirit to town. Michael Giannone of the police department said the annual toy drive is currently ongoing. The drive, he said, is typically a big success, and he expects a similar turnout from the community this year. "On a personal level, it absolutely amazes me to see the generosity of citizens this time of year, regardless of the economy," Giannone said. "[In] tough times, people are cost conscious and sometimes greedy, [but] you would not know that for one second in this community. The citizens in this town are incredibly generous." Police Respond to Township Accident

The township fire department and Chatham Emergency Squad also responded.

Chatham Township Police were on the scene of a motor vehicle accident which occured around 8 p.m. Monday at the intersection of Shunpike Road and Noe Avenue. The Chatham Emergency Squad and Chatham Township Fire Department also responded to the scene. Chatham Patch will continue to update this story.

Township Residents, Police Meet at National Night Out

Police say neighbors should be familiar with each other and the authorities.

Chatham Township residents met McGruff the Crime Dog and representatives from the Chatham Township Police Department and Chatham Emergency Squad on Tuesday during the 28th National Night Out. Residents throughout the township hosted block parties and invited their friends and neighbors to reconnect with each other. Township Committee members and representatives from the Chatham Township Police Department went to visit each of the six block parties to heighten crime awareness and drug prevention. Pick From 6 Block Parties on National Night Out

The nation-wide night of crime awareness takes place Tuesday evening.

Chatham Township Police said that six neighborhoods are hosting block parties for the 28th Annual National Night Out on Tuesday evening. Parties begin at 6 p.m. at the following locations: A map to the right shows the locations. National Night Out began as an effort to educate residents on how to prevent crimes and drug use in their neighborhoods and to strengthen relationships between local police and residents. All block parties will be visited by members of the Chatham Township Police Department, elected officials from Chatham Township, and McGruff the Crime Dog. Bear Trapped in Township Yard Tuesday

The bear was gone by the time police arrived

  Chatham Township Police said that a resident of 206 Longwood Ave. reported that a bear was "trapped" in the backyard Tuesday afternoon. According to Lt. Steven Hennelly, the bear was gone when police arrived at the residence. Further reports came in stating the bear was on Lafayette Avenue heading toward Colony Pool. Multiple residents of the Chathams reported seeing the bear throughout the day. "It was first reported by a Chatham Borough resident on Washington Avenue," Hennelly said. The bear then appears to have walked south into Chatham Township and toward the pool. An announcement was made at Colony Pool, which was open at the time. Summons Issued to Stockton Man for Suspended License

Chatham Township Police pulled over the Stockton man on Thursday evening.

Chatham Township Police issued a summons to a Stockton man for driving with a suspended license on Thursday, July 14. Patrolman James Lattoz stopped a vehicle on Shunpike Road for an inspection violation at approximately 7:20 p.m. Thursday, police said. A subsequent Division of Motor Vehicles computer check determined that the driver of the car, Charles Nocera, 28, of Stockton, NJ, had a suspended driver's license, according to the police report. Nocera was issued a summons for failure to have his vehicle inspected and driving with a suspended license, police said. Nocera is scheduled to appear in municipal court on July 26 at 5 p.m., police said.
