New Providence resident was transported to Overlook Hospital.
A New Providence woman was transported to Overlook Hospital Monday after she was in a car accident on River Road. Pamela Robinson told emergency responders she was suffering pain from the seat belt. The accident occurred shortly before 5 p.m. Monday as Daniel Tabowitz of Roslyn, N.Y., was pulling out of a private driveway onto River Road. Robinson struck him as he entered River Road near Passaic Street in Chatham Township. The Chatham Emergency Squad and Chatham Township Police responded to the scene. Township police, Green Village Fire Department responded to the accident.
Chatham Township Police said a car accident along Shunpike Road sent a woman to Overlook Hospital after she complained of wrist pain. The accident took place at about 6 p.m. Monday at the intersection at Green Village Road near the Chatham Mall. A woman entered the intersection in an attempt to turn left onto Green Village Road when she was struck by an oncoming car traveling east on Shunpike Road, police said. The second driver, described by police as a male, was able to drive away from the accident. Police were still on the scene at 7 p.m. though the accident had been cleared. Seven people were injured in the two-car accident and transported to a local hospital.
Seven people were taken to Morristown Medical Center following a two-car accident on Route 24 in the early hours of Monday morning, State Police said. One of the cars involved in the accident overturned and two of the passengers were ejected, according to police. The overturned vehicle had five occupants, State Police said. State Police did not say how many people were in the second vehicle. None of the injuries are critical, according to state police. The accident took place in the westbound lanes near milepost 7.2 on Route 24 in Chatham. Chatham Patch will update this story as further information becomes available.

Chatham Emergency Squad and Chatham Borough Police are on the scene.
A multi-vehicle car accident has blocked westbound traffic on Watchung Avenue beginning at Hillside Avenue. Chatham Borough Police are on the scene diverting traffic from Watchung Avenue north on Hillside Avenue at 10 a.m. Friday. Eastbound traffic on Watchung Avenue is unhindered. The Chatham Emergency Squad could be seen treating at least one person at the scene of the accident. Several people stood along the sidewalk on the sidewalk on Watchung Avenue, and two cars, a green minivan and a white four-door vehicle, appeared to have sustained damage from the accident. Police say a driver looked away and caused the accident.
Chatham Borough Police issued two summonses for careless driving in two unrelated accidents in late June. Patrolman Andrew Chase investigated a two-car accident at 5:13 p.m. on Weston Avenue, police said. Mala Heard, 20, of Chatham, was slowing down when her car was struck from behind, according to police. The driver of the second car, Andrew Pascal, 20, of Livingston said he looked away for a moment, police said. When Pascal turned back, Heard's vehicle had slowed and he was unable to stop in time, according to police. Driver ran stop sign, collided with a second vehicle.
The Chatham Borough Police and Fire Department responded to a motor vehicle accident Tuesday at the intersection of Washington Avenue and Chatham Street. According to police, a car traveling westbound on Chatham Street failed to stop at the stop sign and collided with a car traveling northbount on Washington Avenue. Chatham Borough Police investigated two car accidents this week, one involving a school bus. On Monday at 7:40 a.m., Patrolman Daryle Kelly investigated a motor vehicle crash on Lafayette Avenue involving a school bus, police said. A 1998 Mazda driven by Philip Smith, 68, of Bricktown was slowing for traffic and was struck from behind by a school bus from the Morris Union Jointure, according to police. The bus was driven by Maria Brito, 52, of Bayonne, and had only one child on board, police said. There was only minor damage to the bus, no one was injured and no summonses were issued, according to police.
