More seats and spacious trunks make these the perfect vehicles for an active group of parents and kids.
When you've got a big family, you need a big car. Keeping up with soccer practice, dance rehearsals or simply a trip to the grocery store for three—or more—requires a spacious trunk and room for wiggling. Add some pets and even the largest vehicle could seem cramped. For this week's edition of 5 Cars, we bring you five cars, vans in fact, big enough to fit the whole family. 1. 2008 Chevrolet Uplander Cargo—Used—$9,999 From Cars.com: This four-speed automatic minivan features enough room for a carload of people or supplies. It comes with a sliding side door, a tire pressure monitor, auto express down window and bucket seats. It also features an auxiliary audio input, AM/FM and satellite radio. Sometimes the most exciting feature is simply the color of the car.
No matter how many times you take it to the car wash, at some point, your car is going to look dirty. Some say a white car can look dirtier than black, others say the opposite. But underneath the grime and soot, the color of a car is often what attracts a buyer most. For those hoping to get some attention with their ride, nothing says "hey, look at me" like red. And for this week's installment of 5 Cars, we're hoping to grab some eyes with these red beauties for sale locally: 1. 2013 Hyundai Accent GLS—New—$17,895 From Cars.com: This six-speed red sedan features a gray interior to contrast with its flashy outside finish. As for performance, the car features four-wheel ABS brakes with braking assist and first and second row curtain head …

Large wheels and heavy-duty frames make these vehicles safe for even the slipperiest ride.
With the amount of rain that's fallen in the past several days, a car may not be what you're looking for. Perhaps instead you should be shopping for boats. Whether you're driving through puddles by accident or for fun, safety is important and some feel the bigger the car the better for wet weather. This week we bring you a look at five cars that are puddle-proven to help you weather a storm: 1. 2013 Ford F150 Lariat—New—$54,155 From Cars.com: This six-speed automatic truck features 20 inch chrome-clad aluminum wheels and four-wheel ABS brakes. It also features driveline traction control and automatic locking hubs. Available at Performance Lincoln Ford on Route 10 in Randolph. 2. 2013 Chevrolet Silverado 2500—New—$39,273 From Cars.com: This…

Mayor Bruce Harris said New Jersey Transit will release a request for proposals for the project later this year.
The Chatham New Jersey Transit Station could soon be a place to do far more than grab a coffee in the mornings and board a train. The lease for the current concession stand in the Chatham station will soon come to an end, and New Jersey Transit will look at getting a new vendor, still likely an eatery of some kind, with longer hours and possibly a bar. "I think this is something that could be really great for Chatham Borough," Mayor Bruce A. Harris said. The Chatham train station has a layout which Harris said is identical to the Short Hills station. Short Hills has a cafe, The Boxcar, which serves coffee and pastries in the morning, then transforms into a sit-down eatery in the afternoon. Harris said he hopes for a similar vendor to come …

Convertibles offer open-air experience for those sunny summer days.
With the start of summer kicked off by Memorial Day weekend, it's time to break out the flip-flops, slap on some sunblock and light up the grill. It's also time to roll down the car windows, or, better yet, take the top down altogether. From luxury convertibles to speedy sports cars, several local dealerships are selling the perfect summer vehicle, depending how much wind you want in your face while you drive. Here are a few options to help you tan while you make your way to the beach: 1. 2012 Lexus IS 250C—New—$50,327 From Cars.com: This two-door luxury convertible features an anti-theft alarm system and AM/FM radio. Picture yourself behind the wheel of one of these five upper-class conveyances.
Every now and again, 5 Cars likes to delve within the realm of imagination, and this week is one of those times. Fresh off of Mother's Day, we're thinking about being pampered and picturing ourselves in a sleek ride. For this installment, we're featuring five previously owned low-mile luxury cars now available for sale in Morris County, in order to offer two things: For normal-folks readers it's a great exercise for the mind, and for certain readers with the inclination and the means, these mindblowing vehicles could really end up their property. Who knows, one day that person might be you or me. Listings and photos come from the individual sellers, Cars.com and AOL Autos. 1. 2012 Bentley Continental Flying Spur Speed - Used - $151,009 …

With Mom's big day this weekend, we look at family-style sedans and minivans for sale in Morris County.
Mother's Day is Sunday, and so our thoughts are filled with maternal memories. Moms do it all—bringing home the bacon, frying it in the proverbial pan, cleaning the house, schlepping the kids. She deserves a nice ride, don't you think? Now, many of us can't afford to get our female parent an elegant and reliable sedan or SUV that boasts subtle style yet holds her offspring and their equally rambunctious friends and their scads of junk, but it's nice to ponder. And for those who can produce the necessary scratch, think about what memorable Mama has done for you and check out these babies. This week's installment of 5 Cars is devoted to cars we imagine our own wonderful mother would love. We're not mentioning this to her, however, because we…

These cars will help you carry items for your next project.
The weather is finally getting warmer, the sun is shining, spring is here—and that means it's time for spring projects. But as you're heading to Home Depot, Cerbo's Parsippany Greenhouses and Garden Center or Cerbo Hardware and Lumber, you're going to need a vehicle with room to carry all those materials home with you. So instead of assuming you're OK with carrying those wood planks on your lap, we've got five vehicles with plenty of room to carry those project materials for your next great work on the house. Listings and photos from Cars.com and AOL Autos. 1. 2013 Chevrolet Silverado 2500 LT — New — $53,315 From Cars.com: This diesel-powered cab car pickup may weigh 9,500 pounds on its own, but it also has an overall length of 225 inches…

Some folks prefer cars from outside the U.S.
"It isn't unpatriotic to want a foreign car," said our friend David. "It's an affirmation of competition, the basis of the free enterprise system." That's David's story and he's sticking to it. And from a purely economic point of view, he is correct. Capitalism doesn't take geography into consideration; it's all about what the buyer prioritizes as most important. The best product, in his or her opinion, gets the sale. Nothing wrong with that if one isn't particularly jingoistic. And David is far from alone. While many drivers in this country are all about buying "American" as a show of patriotic pride, an act of loyalty to the construct or out of a belief that U.S.-made cars are the best available, a lot of others prefer cars from …

For many, the best part of spring and summer is riding in a convertible with the top down.
Is there anything better than driving along the highways and byways on a gorgeous, warm day with the car's top down and your hair flying in the breeze—or, if you are follicle-challenged, with the wind caressing your scalp as you motor? We think not. Convertibles come in a variety of forms, from compact sports roadsters to large four- and five-seat cabriolets. According to Convertible Car Magazine, the industry is expected to make a big resurgence in 2013. With an improving economy, it appears car makers are showing confidence by presenting a host of new cars. So we figure this is a great time to look at what's available in Morris County in the way of new (and one used) stylish, breezy rides. Listings and photos come from Cars.com, …
