No Summons Issued in School Bus Accident
Police investigated this and a second car accident, both with no injuries.
Chatham Borough Police investigated two car accidents this week, one involving a school bus. On Monday at 7:40 a.m., Patrolman Daryle Kelly investigated a motor vehicle crash on Lafayette Avenue involving a school bus, police said. A 1998 Mazda driven by Philip Smith, 68, of Bricktown was slowing for traffic and was struck from behind by a school bus from the Morris Union Jointure, according to police. The bus was driven by Maria Brito, 52, of Bayonne, and had only one child on board, police said. There was only minor damage to the bus, no one was injured and no summonses were issued, according to police. Once again, selective ticketing. A bus with a child on board runs into the back of a car and the driver of the bus doesn't receive a ticket. Another accident involves a car running into the back of a car and the driver receives a ticket. Where have we gone wrong? Obviously somewhere. Either uphold the law or atleast be consistent. more ›
