Friends Say Thanks

The Friends of the Library's annual book sale was a great success.

The Friends of the Library of the Chathams celebrated another very successful book sale in early March. The book sale sold most of the 50,000 plus books that had been donated by the public for our event. The Friends wish to thank all those who donated so many wonderful books for the sale, all who worked many hours sorting and organizing the books and helping out during the book sale and our many friends and neighbors who supported the sale by buying bagfuls of books. We would like to recognize Specialized Auto Craft on Ogden Street in Chatham for repairing equipment used by the Friends, Chatham Storage on North Passaic Avenue for the use of their ramp - without which the sale could not be done, and the Chatham High School Key Club and …

The Friends of the Library's annual book sale is one of the biggest events the library has each year. This year donations were so generous that for a time the Friends asked that people stop donating. Finally the big day(s) arrived, so ... what did you buy?

Book Sale Begins at Chatham Library

The Friends of the Library prepared thousands of books for the sale.

After receiving overwhelming dontions, the Friends of the Library are getting ready to start their annual book sale beginning Friday. Patrons of the Library of the Chathams donated over 50,000 books, according to a statement from the Friends. They have been sorted into six different rooms and over 30 categories, including fiction, biography, history, government, gardening, art, photography and children's books. There are also numerous DVDs, VHSs, CDs and audio cassettes to choose from. There is also a section for rare and collectible books. Prices range from 25 cents to $5 or more, depending on the size and quality of the books. DVDs are $3, more for sets.
