A Wind-Wind Situation
Chatham High sophomore balances his wind turbine project with school, tennis, website development, being a teenager.
Every Sunday, Drew Lilley tries to makes a difference. It isn't by maintaining high grades in all of his high school classes. It's not by excelling in just about every sport in which he participates. And it has nothing to do with making a sizeable amount of change from building websites. No, that's what Monday through Saturday is for. On Sundays, the Chatham High School sophomore devotes his energy to, well, renewable energy by building wind turbines in the makeshift workshop in his garage. What began as a curiosity-driven way to pass time last December has resulted, almost a whole year later, in the construction of six different turbines, a generator and a quickly increasing interest in engineering.
