Chatham native Julie Suczewski was named to the 2012 spring semester Honor's List at Fairleigh Dickinson University's Metropolitan campus. The Metropolitan campus us located in Teaneck and Hackensack, N.J. To qualify for the Honor's list, a student must have a 3.5 grade point average or higher and be enrolled in a minimum of four classes. Chatham native Kyle Szajowkski graduated from Gettysburg College with his bachelor's degree in history. The commencement exercises took place May 20. The liberal arts college enrolls 2,600 undergraduate students. Notable alumni of Gettysburg College include Rhodes scholars and a Nobel laureate. Another Chatham native, Adam Weinbrom, was named to the college's 2012 spring semester Dean's Commendation List. The honor of being named to the commendation list is reserved for students who earn a grade point average of 3.33 or higher. Elizabeth Rouillard, also of Chatham, was named to Gettysburg College's Dean's Commendation List for the 2011 fall semester. Washington and Lee University announced one student from the Chathams were named to their Dean's List for the 2012 spring semester. Nicole Ross is a member of the class of 2015 at Washington and Lee University. She earned a grade point average of at least 3.4 in the spring semester. Ross was also named to the university's Dean's List for the fall 2011 semester along with Brittany Ross, a member of the class of 2013. Washington and Lee University is a private liberal arts college located in Lexington, VA. The original school was founded in 1749 as Augusta Academy, renamed Liberty Hall in 1776, moved to its present location in 1780 as Liberty Hall Academy. Chatham native Allison Woerner received her bachelor of arts degree in Communication from the University of New Hampshire during their commencement ceremony on Saturday, May 19. Two other Chatham residents were named to the Dean's List for the university's 2012 spring semester: Students named to the Dean's List at the University of New Hampshire have earned recognition through their superior scholastic performance. Highest Honors are awarded to students who earn a semester grade point average of 3.7 or better out of a possible 4.0. Students with a 3.5 to 3.69 average are awarded high honors and students whose grade point average is 3.2 through 3.49 are awarded honors. Two natives of Chatham earned their bachelor's degrees from the University of Hartford this year: The two received their diplomas during the university's commencement ceremonies, which were held on Saturday, May 19, and Sunday, May 20. Yohay was also named to the University of Hartford's Dean's List for the 2012 spring semester. Chartered in 1957 with the mission to be a "private university with a public purpose," the University of Hartford offers undergraduate, graduate, and professional programs in the arts, the humanities, business, engineering and technology, education, and the health professions. The university's West Hartford, Conn. location hosts a student body of 7,000 representing 45 states and 58 countries.

Three residents of the Chathams received diplomas from Cornell University at the Ivy League school's commencement ceremony on May 27. Stephan was valedictorian at Chatham High School in 2008. This fall she will begin work on her PhD. in Ecological Engineerign at the State University of New York College of Environmental Sciences and Forestry in Syracuse, NY. Two other students, Tucker Doherty and Russell Silver-Fagen, were named to Cornell University College of Arts and Sciences' Dean's List for 2012 spring semester. Miami University of Ohio awarded 3,219 degrees to students at their spring commencement exercises on Saturday, May 5. Among those students were three natives of Chatham: One other Miami University student from Chatham, Brian Kingsley Ballard, was named to Miami University's Dean's List for the 2012 spring semester. Two natives of Chatham earned academic honors at Purdue University for the 2012 spring semester. The two students, Samit Sura and Craig Brissman, met the university's requirements for the honors list. They each earned at least a 3.5 out of a 4.0 cumulative grade point average. Located in West Lafayette, Ind., Purdue University is known for its science, technology, engineering and math programs. The university was founded in 1869 and houses major research institutions. The university has a student population of over 39,000 from all 50 states and 130 countries, and offers about 850 student organizations and Big Ten Boilermaker athletics.
