3 Violent Crimes Reported in Borough in 2011

No violent crime reported in the township last year.

The New Jersey State Police Uniform Crime Report showed an increase of 0.3 percent in violent crime in Chatham Borough. Overall crime in the Chathams fell by significant though not overwhelming amounts. The total crime index in Chatham Borough fell from 72 incidents in 2010 to 58 in 2011. In Chatham Township, overall crime fell from 46 incidents in 33 between 2010 and 2011. Violent crime rose in the borough from no incidents reported in 2010 to three in 2011. According to the report, there was one incident of rape, one incident of robbery and one incident of aggravated assault. There was an increase in car thefts in both towns in 2011 over 2010.
