A facility of the Morris Country Park Commission, the Great Swamp Outdoor Education Center is located on the 44 acres…More of the Great Swamp Wildlife Refuge that the Park Commission is responsible for. The refuge consists of 7,600 acres of varied habitats, where over 244 species of birds and other endangered or threatened animal and plant species live and feed.
Learn the history of the Great Swamp, from the historic battle that kept the swamp from becoming an airport in 1960 to the epic retreat of the Wisconsin Glacier 20,000 year ago that formed the glacial lake bottom you stand on today. Consider the mind-blowing-ness of it all while hiking one of the four trails, totaling 1.4 miles, or attending one of the Education Center's many classes and walks.
The Center also hosts birthday parties and other events.
