The Chatham Township Volunteer Fire Department responds to emergency calls within the township.
It was…More originally called the Long Hill Volunteer Fire Company when it was founded in 1925. Its name was changed in 1975 when many potential donors became confused by the name, and weren't sure if they were donating to the appropriate department when they were giving to Long Hill.
The department receives $45,000 in municipal funding and works to fundraise the remaining $76,000 it needs for its $121,000 total annual budget.
Weekly drills and monthly business meetings are held at the firehouse. There is a second fire department substation on Southern Boulevard that houses two engines.
