The Municipal Alliance Committee of the Chathams (MACC) intends to educated the public regarding the use of tobacco,…More alcohol and other drugs. It promotes alternatives to such activities.
It was created in 1992 as part of a statewide push to start municipal alliances that would allow community volunteers to combat substance abuse. The network of alliances is managed by the Governor's Council on Alcoholism and Drug Abuse.
The state, county, borough and township all provide funding for the committee. The group sponsors assemblies at School District of the Chathams facilities and supports anti-substance use clubs at Chatham High School.
It is comprised of community members who come from the school district, religious congregations and other parts of Chatham.

Chatham Township's municipal building is located toward the western edge of town. It houses the majority of the…More township's offices—the Police Department and Department of Public Works are on Southern Boulevard.
The building is also home to the Senior Center of the Chathams and the School District of the Chathams Board of Education.
There are fields and a playground behind the structure. The township's Sept. 11 memorial is located adjacent to the recreation areas.
