The courts in both Chathams have joined a shared service in another town. This location is now closed.

The borough's municipal court mostly handles traffic tickets and parking tickets. According to court officials, the court also handles criminal matters, though it does so more sparingly.

People can pay their traffic or parking tickets online unless they are required to make a court appearance in connection with the matter. Court appearances are often required when an accident results in personal injury, when one plans to plead not guilty in an attempt to downgrade a ticket or, in some instances, when one was driving a commercial vehicle.
