'Open Houses' Offer Look Inside Chatham Emergency Services

Equipment demo, K-9 unit, Sparky the Fire Dog, police centennial celebration planned.

You can see where Chatham's police, fire and emergency management officials work when they hold "open houses" Saturday.

Tours of the Chatham Borough Police Department, Chatham Fire Department and Chatham Borough Office of Emergency Management Operation Center start at 10 a.m. Saturday.

The police department—which is celebrating its 100th anniversary—and OEM are open until 2 p.m., and the fire department is open until 1 p.m.

"On behalf of Fire Chief Peter Glogolich and OEM Coordinator William Nauta, I encourage you and your family and friends to join us to learn more about the public safety personnel and equipment available and operating in your community working hard to keep you and your families safe," Chatham Police Chief Philip J. Crosson Jr. said in an announcement for the event.

The event also is expected to include units from the Morris County Sheriff's Office and Morris County Park Police in honor of the Chatham Borough Police Department's centennial. The county's mobile crime scene processing bus, Sheriff’s Emergency Response Team (SWAT) vehicle and equipment, and K-9 unit are among the units expected to be there.

The Chatham Fire Department’s open house will be the department’s annual fire prevention open house, featuring a visit from Sparky the fire dog, equipment demonstrations and fire prevention literature.
