Tennis Pros, Holiday Bazaar, Santa Visit This Week

Chatham Emergency Squad Blood Bank in week ahead.

Tennis Exhibition A tennis exhibition hosted by New Jersey native and retired tennis champion Justin Gimelstob will bring tennis stars and celebrity fans to Chatham this week to support children's charities.

The Justin Gimelstob Children’s Fund Tennis Exhibition is scheduled for Friday at Centercourt Athletic Club in the borough.

Gimelstob, now a sports broadcaster and player representative on the ATP World Tour Board of Directors, will be joined by former world No. 1 and US Open champion Andy Roddick, former world No. 4 James Blake, current top American player John Isner, former Davis Cup Captain Patrick McEnroe, and former world No. 33 and current ATP World Tour player and New Jersey resident Alex Bogomolov, according to an announcement for the event.

The players will be supervising junior and adult tennis clinics ($100 per session), as well as a free clinic for children 10 and under beginning at 4 p.m. Exhibition matches begin at 7 p.m.

The event raises money for a variety of children’s charities, including The Valerie Fund, a nonprofit organization supporting comprehensive healthcare services for children with cancer and blood disorders.

St. Paul’s Holiday Bazaar is set for 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday at St. Paul’s Church, 200 Main Street, Chatham. The annual event features a renowned Cookie Walk and Frozen Soups-to-Go, all made by the congregation. Vendors will be selling everything from jewelry to pottery, butter crunch candy, soap and clothing. Attendees can have lunch at the St. Paul’s Café. Proceeds from the event help support outreach programs. For more information call the church office at 973-635-8085.

Santa Visit: Hickory Tree Deli in the Chatham Mall on Shunpike Road is sponsoring a visit from Santa Claus 3 p.m. Saturday.

Blood Bank: The Chatham Emergency Squad will sponsor its fourth and final Chatham Emergency Squad Blood Bank for 2013 on Saturday from 8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. at the Borough Squad Building, 31 North Passaic Ave.

 Donors, ages 17 to 76, should be in good health and have some form of identification with them. Teenagers, age 16, can also donate with parental permission; forms for this will be available at the site. Anyone with questions about donating can call the blood center headquarters at 800-688-0900. 

Refreshments will be served. There is ample parking to the rear of the squad building.
