New Recycling Day, Reorganization Meeting This Week

Financial aid workshop, Chatham schools reopen, library holiday hours also in week ahead.

Library Hours:  The Library of the Chathams closes early at 3 p.m. on Tuesday, New Year's Eve, and will be closed Wednesday, New Year's Day.

Back to School: Chatham schools reopen from winter break Thursday.

Financial Aid Workshop: 
A financial aid workshop is scheduled for 7 p.m. Thursday in the Chatham High School auditorium.

Reorganization Meeting: The Chatham Township Committee's 2014 Reorganization Meeting is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. Thursday at the municipal building, 58 Meyersville Road. The Committee is expected to appoint a new mayor for 2014, and Committeeman-elect Curt Ritter and Deputy Mayor Robert Gallop, who was re-elected in November, are expected to be sworn in. The meeting will be carried live on Comcast channel 29 and FiOS channel 26.

Chatham Borough's reorganization meeting is 7:30 p.m. Monday, Jan. 6.

New Recycling Hauler, Day: A new recycling hauler for Chatham Borough in 2014 means a new curbside pick-up day for residents, as well as some changes in acceptable items.

Starting Jan. 3, curbside recycling collection will be every Friday.

The borough contracted with the Morris County Municipal Utilities Authority because the arrangement offers comparable service while saving Chatham money, according to a resolution authorizing the agreement.
