New Board of Ed Member, Lot Sale, Martin Luther King Jr. Day This Week

A look at the week ahead in the Chathams.

Board of Ed: Michelle Clark is expected to be sworn in as a member on the Board of Education for the School District of the Chathams this week, filling a vacancy left by the resignation of five-year Chatham Township representative Albert Burgunder.

Clark will be appointed to the seat and sworn in at Wednesday's board meeting, according to a copy of the meeting agenda. The remaining year of the term will be up for vote in the April school election.

Burgunder resigned in November citing personal and professional reasons.

Lot Sale: Chatham Borough-owned property at 57 Watchung Ave. is again for sale to the highest bidder after a previous attempt to sell the wooded, 0.2-acre lot didn't draw any bids above the minimum.

Officials determined the property is no longer needed for public use and will be offered for public sale by sealed bid to the highest bidder at 10 a.m. Thursday.

Martin Luther King Jr. Day:
Chatham schools are closed and borough and township municipal offices are closed for the holiday.

Township Committee:
Chatham Township's governing body is scheduled to meet 7:30 p.m. Thursday in the municipal building, 58 Meyersville Road. See the meeting agenda here.
