Vacant Lot Bidding, Bike Safety Program This Week

Fire department open house also planned.

Lot for Sale: A vacant lot on Chatham Street that is owned by Chatham Borough could be sold to the highest bidder, with a minimum bid set at $50,000.

Chatham Borough plans to accept sealed bids for 83 Chatham Street at 10 a.m. Thursday at Borough Hall, 54 Fairmount Ave.

The property will "be deed restricted from the development of any principal building or structure," according to a notice about the planned sale on the borough website. Neighbors had said the lot wasn't suited for a home.

Bike Safety: A Chatham Township police program "Bike Right and Pedestrian Walking Tips" is scheduled for Saturday morning in the Chatham High School parking lot. Chatham Township police will discuss how to ride and walk safely. Session start times are organized by grades K-8.

Fire Department Open House: The Green Village Fire Department is holding an open house from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. Sunday at the firehouse, 529 Green Village Road, Green Village. Attendees can try on gear, explore membership opportunities, and eat free hamburgers and hot dogs.

Bottle Hill Day: Bottle Hill Day, an annual festival and street fair that draws thousands of people to downtown Madison the first Saturday of October, is scheduled for 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday, rain or shine.
