Colony Memberships Discounted for Season's End

The discount begins Aug. 18 and runs through Labor Day.

The Chatham Township Committee unanimously opted to approve an addition to the membership fees at Colony Pool for the end of summer.

The fees will move to a flat rate of $150 for pool membership only, effective Aug. 18 through Labor Day.

The resolution approved by the committee also includes giving free membership to senior citizens who reside in Chatham Township during the same period.

This is for the end of the summer. At the time, Committee Member Robert Gallop said the partial season pass would encourage people who move to town over the summer to try the pool.

Committee Member Kathy Abbott, who serves as the committee's liaison to the Colony Pool Advisory Committee, reiterated Gallop's comments that the discounted membership is a great way for new residents to become familiar with the pool.

Township Administrator Tom Ciccarone also said he would "like to have the discretion to open the pool to seniors" during harsh weather, such as any time temperatures reach over 90 degrees.

The committee agreed, and asked Ciccarone to make sure a notice is posted at the Senior Center of the Chathams so seniors are aware that they can use the pool for free between Aug. 18 and Labor Day, and on days when the temperature is over 90 starting immediately.
