What would you like to do this weekend? Go for a bike ride? Enjoy ripe summer strawberries? How about a little nighttime music? Or, maybe you're interested in a little pre-Fourth of July patriotism. The area's got it all.


When/Where: 7 p.m. Thursday, , 41 Oliver St, Chatham
Why go: Win home-made baskets, taste delicious strawberry desserts and enjoy the good company at this summer festival.

When/Where: 7:30 p.m. Thursday, , 262 Main St, Chatham
Why go: Listen to great music by the Steve Girardi Trio and support Chatham's downtown revitalization efforts.

When/Where: Saturday, 8 a.m., from Marty's Reliable Cycle, Morristown
Why Go: It's summer and you want to test out those legs.

When/Where: 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, Fairmount Ave & Railroad Plz, Chatham
Why go: Meet other local painters at this weekly outdoor event, sponsored by the Art League of the Chathams.

Saturday 9 a.m. at the Morris Plains Farmer's Market located at 740 Speedwell Ave.
Why Go: You're an animal lover and want to get a head start on 4th of July festivities.
Cost: Free, but donations accepted in either money, dog and cat food, or kitty litter.


When/Where: Saturday, 9 a.m., from Morristown Running Company
Why Go: Cycling's not your thing, but running is!
Cost: Free

When/Where: Saturday, 10 a.m., from 14 Maple Ave., Morristown
Why Go: You want to learn more about Morristown's homegrown seeing eye dog program.
Cost: $12

When/Where: Saturday at 12:30 p.m. at VFW Post 3401 at 45 Tabor Road, Morris Plains
Why Go: To support our veterans and enjoy some food and drinks, and a live band.
Cost: $25 for advance tickets, $30 at the door, $10 for kids 13-16, and free for kids 12 and under

Family Day and Fireworks
When/Where: Saturday, 5 p.m. festivities start, and fireworks at 9:30 p.m. at the Morris Plains Community Park located at 51 Jim Fear Drive.
Why Go: To have some fun with your family and friends and enjoy food, entertainment, and fireworks.
Cost: Free


When/Where: Sunday, 8:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Lot No. 10, Morris and Spring streets.
Why Go: You like to eat fresh.
Cost: Bring your wallet


When/Where: Sunday, 6 to 9 p.m. at Zebu Forno, Morristown
Why Go: You're feeling artistic.
Cost: $10 (includes two slices of pizza, drink and three hours with model)
