Track Teams Finish 9th in State Championships

  • The boys cross country team finished their season with a 9th place finish out of 20 teams in the Group II finals at Holmdel Park. Anthony Malatesta finished in 7th place in 16:37 and qualified for the Meet of Champions for the second year running.
  • Brian Leonard finished in 55th place at 17:40; Dominic Vernazza finished 69th in 18:05; Joe Kraemer finished in 76th place at 18:16; Parth Shah finished in 78th place in 18:17; Fred Heller finished in 80th place in 18:18; and Andrew Vena finished in 99th in 18:43.
  • The girls cross country team also finished 9th out of 19 teams in the Group II state championships. The team's average time for 5k was 21:20. Tara Hanley placed 2nd in 18:36 and qualified for the Meet of Champions next Saturday.
  • Other top finishers were Tess Frenzel, who finished in 57th place in 21:34; Shannon Hynes finished in 78th place in 22:07; Tara Malanga finished in 80th place in 22:09; Kayla Michell finished in 84th place in 22:17; Laura Walsh finished in 90th place in 22:25; and Julie Williamson finished in 91st place in 22:30.

There will be a meeting of students interested in wrestling with Coach Cassera is scheduled for Monday at 2:40 p.m. in the Chatham High cafeteria.

There will be a swim team parents'/coaches' meeting on Monday night at 7 p.m. in the Chatham High cafeteria.
