Swim Teams Start with Wins Over Ridge

Winter sports begin with a bang for Chatham High.

Winter athletes at have been busy since the bowling, ice hockey and swim teams started their competitive seasons on Dec. 1.

The basketball, indoor trac and wrestling teams begin their competitive seasons on Friday, Dec. 16. The fencing teams begin competition on Saturday, Dec. 17.

On Thursday:

  • The boys swim team defeated Ridge 110-60 at the Morris Union pool.
  • The girls swim team defeated Ridge 123-45 at the Morris Union pool.
  • The bowling team was defeated by Butler 7-0 at Rockaway Lanes.

On Saturday:

  • The ice hockey team was defeated by Kinnelon 4-2 at Skylands Ice World. There was no scoring in the first period. In the second period, Colby Collier scored a goal, assisted by Trip Burke. Trip Burke scored in the third period. Goalie Jordan Boles had 25 saves on the game.
  • The bowling team competed in the Bishop Ahr Tournament at the Brunswick Zone Carolier Lanes. The Cougar team totaled 2472 pins over a 5 man 3 game set. Bailey Bancroft rolled a 202 game, and TJ Cherry shot a high game of 201.

Anthony Malatesta and Tara Hanley were each was named to the All Morris County Cross Country teams for the Fall 2011 season.
