Swim Teams Defeat Hanover Park

Ice hockey team defeats Hunterdon Central.

prepares for the remainder of winter sports teams to start their season this weekend. Basketball, indoor track and wrestling begin Friday, fencing begins Saturday.

On Tuesday:

  • The boys swim team defeated Hanover Park 135-34 at the Morris Union Pool in Warren
  • The girls swim team defeated Hanover Park 115-55 at the Morris Union Pool in Warren
  • The bowling team was defeated 7-0 by Morris Hills at Rockaway Lanes.
    Senior Danny Goeckel shot the team high games with a 210 and a 203.

On Wednesday:

  • The ice hockey team defeated Hunterdon Central 3-2 at Protec Ponds Rink in Somerset. There was no scoring in the first period. Scott Kepler, WIll Barnet and Colby Gilsenan scored, with assists from Brett Montgomery (Barnett) and Teddy Simsono (Gilsenan). Goalie C.J. Albanese made 16 saves.

The following games are scheduled for Thursday:

  • The girls swim team travels to Morristown Beard to take on Villa Walsh Academy at 3:30 p.m. Transport leaves at 2:15 p.m.
  • The JV ice hockey team travels to Floyd Hall at Montclair State University to take on Seton Hall Preparatory at 4 p.m. Transport leaves at 2:20 p.m.
  • The indoor track teams travel to the O'Leary Invitational at Drew University at 4:30 p.m. Transport leaves at 2:45 p.m.

The NJSIAA has posted the grouping for the general classification sports. Chatham again will be in North Section 2, Group III.

The next Athletic Booster Club meeting is Jan. 3 at 6 p.m. at the Chatham High media center.

The boys and girls swim teams will host a Holiday Food Drive at their meet against West Morris at Dec. 20. Fans attending are encouraged to bring canned food, cereal and/or other nonperishable food items. The food will be donated to the Interfaith Food Pantry of Morris County.

For those who do not plan to attend the meet and would still like to donate, there will be a food collection box in the high school main lobby during the week of Dec. 19-23.

There will be a meeting for all girls interested in playing lacrosse on Jan. 4 at 2:45 p.m. in the high school cafeteria. All those interested in playing in 2012 should attend. Pre-season workouts, preliminary schedules and spirit wear order forms will be distributed. If unable to attend, please contact Head Coach Deb Marriott.
