Softball, Baseball Host Cougar Classic

Softball team will raise funds for the Susan G. Komen Foundation.

The weather may be utterly unpredictable, but at least spring brings one thing you can depend on: The Cougar Classic.

The Chatham High School boys baseball and girls softball teams host competitors Saturday in the Cougar Classic, a local springtime tradition.

The boys will host Summit, Mountain Lakes and Bernards High Schools at 2 and 4 p.m. at Chatham High. The girls host Hanover Park, Morris Knolls and West Essex High Schools at Haas Field at 2 and 4 p.m.

The girls will use the Classic to raise money for the Susan G. Komen Foundation. Team supporters will sell baked goods, hot dogs and hamburgers during the Classic. During the 2012 Cougar Classic, the girls softball team raised $1,800 for Komen.

Food and snacks will be sold at the Cougar Classic, and prizes will be given out to those who best show their Cougar pride.
