Romei, St. Romain Named Morris County Scholar Athletes

The two will attend Haverford College and Dartmouth College, respectively, in the fall.

RANDOLPH — Chatham High School seniors Matt Romei and Alex St. Romain were named Morris County Scholar Athletes by the Morris County Athletic Directors Association in a ceremony on Wednesday evening.

Romei, a National Merit Commended Scholar, captained Chatham's soccer team this fall, earning Third Team All County and Second Team All Conference Honors.  He also captains the school's tennis team, where he is a two-time Morris County champion and a three-time All Conference selection. Romei is in the midst of an undefeated season at the third singles position for Chatham's squad.

He is a member of the National Honor Society and the German National Honor Society and plays viola in the High School Chamber Orchestra.

He will play tennis and continue his education at Haverford College.

St. Romain is a three-year letter winner in soccer and a four year letter winner in softball and served as captains on both teams. She has been a First Team All-Area, All-County and All-Conference honoree in softball for the past two years, and has twice been named to the Morris County Coach's Association Team. This fall, St. Romain received a Outstanding Athlete Award from the National Association for  Girls and Women in Sports.

She was the freshman and sophomore class treasurer, is a member of the National Honor Society, and plays violin in the school's Chamber Orchestra.

St. Romain will attend Dartmouth College in the fall, where she will play for the Big Green softball team.
