Report: Chatham Swimmers Take Home Two Medals at Meet of Champions

Junior Michael Strand won the 100 backstroke and came in second in the 100 butterfly.

Chatham sent 12 swimmers to the state Meet of Champions this weekend at the Gloucester County Institute of Technology and came away with two medals, both courtesy of junior Michael Strand, who won the 100 backstroke and finished second in the 100 butterfly, according to the Daily Record.

Girls Chelsea Allocco, Kate Buchser, Julia Harrigan, Greta Leberfinger, Taryn McLaughlin, Margaret Nelson, Rachael Tortorella and Anne Trojanowski and boys Michael Strand, Paul Bender, Kevin Greener and Adam Weinbrom participated in the meet.

Girls

200 Medley Relay: Harrigan, Leberfinger, Buchser, Nelson; 11th place (1:54.05).
200 Freestyle: McLaughlin; 12th place (1:59.07)
500 Freestyle: Trojanowski; 15th place (5:19.61)
200 Freestyle Relay: Harrigan, Trojanowski, McLaughlin, Nelson; 19th place (1:43.06)
100 Backstroke: Buchser; 12th place (1:00.27).
