Girls Swimming Advances to Sectional Finals
Lady Cougars score decisive win over Scotch Plains-Fanwood, 125-45
The Chatham High girls swimming team improved to 16-0 on the season with a convincing 125-45 win over Scotch Plains-Fanwood Monday to advance to the North Jersey Section 2, Public B championship next Monday.
Chatham won nine of the 11 events, taking first in the three relays and sweeping the first three places in five events. Scotch Plains-Fanwood's record is now 8-4.
Chatham head coach Dave Steele is pleased with how the girls continue to improve with each meet.

"This is another step on where we need to go for our goal. One of our strengths is the fact that we have a lot of girls who can swim a lot of different events, so it gives me the flexibility of being able to move them around. And hopefully it keeps them fresh so they're not swimming the same events all the time. It also allows me to get some other kids involved, too," he said.
"We did not swim everybody in their maximum events today. We are holding off a little bit until later in the states. It helps to really have the depth."
