Number one seed had no problem scoring against eighth-seeded Jefferson, netting 12 goals in the first half and eight more in the second on its way to an easy 18-4 win in the second round of the North 2 state sectional girls lacrosse tournament on Friday.

The scoring was almost at will. With just over 11 minutes left in the first half, the Cougars went up 10-0, which changed the game from stop-time to running time. The Cougars played keep away on offense for most of the rest of the half, scoring just two more goals. Jefferson came out in the second half and scored two quick goals but Chatham quickly responded with two of its own.
With just over six minutes left in the game, Chatham once again played keep away and held to ball for five minutes before Jefferson scored its last goal of the game. Again Chatham responded quickly, scoring the last goal of the game with just over a minute to play.

The Cougars advance to play fourth-seeded Mahwah at home in the sectional semifinals on Tuesday.
