Fazio's Nine Strikeouts Contribute to Cougars' 10-0 Victory

The Lady Cougars advance to the next round of the Morris County Tournament.

On a hot day on the Chatham JV field the Lady Cougars of the varsity softball made an impressive run with the bat beating the Kinnelon Colts 10-0 after 6 innings.

IN SHORT
The Cougars defense did not allow more than four Kinnelon batters per inning and ended the game after six innings, 10-run ruling the Colts and advancing to the Morris County Tournament quarterfinals.

COUGAR OF THE GAME
Amanda Fazio
Fazio was nearly flawless on the mound pitching six scoreless innings with nine strikeouts. At the plate Fazio went 3-3 at the plate with two triples.

“Amanda pitched very well today and hit all of her targets,” said Head Coach Alexis Davies of Fazio. The junior pitcher contributed two RBIs over the six innings.

OTHER KEY PERFORMANCES
Kelly Winans (Chatham) – Winans went 2-4 at the plate with two RBIs.  Cara Delsandro (Chatham), Delsandro went 3-3 with two singles and a double. Her sixth inning single drove in Chatham’s final two runs.

THEY SAID IT
"It was a great team effort all around today. We had good hits, great defense, and I thought we ran the bases well.” – Head Coach Alexis Davies.
