Cougar Lacrosse Club's June 10th Fishawack Invitational

Announcing Cougar Lacrosse Club’s June 10th Fishawack Invitational Lacrosse Festival and Winner of the Official Tee-Shirt Competition

The 8th Annual Chatham Fishawack Invitational Festival kicks off Sunday, June 10th, 2012. The Fishawack Lacrosse Invitational is a local sporting event and is all about having a great day out with local lacrosse enthusiasts.  The festival was founded by Steve Kenety, who was involved with lacrosse for 30 years, as a player, referee and coach for Chatham Youth Lacrosse.  The Fishawack Invitational celebrates his contributions to lacrosse and his festival objectives, to honor the great game of lacrosse, to get some exercise for the kids, and to have some fun and enjoy a beautiful day.

Watch the modern version of the old American Indian game of lacrosse played by 3rd to 8th grade boys on teams from Chatham, Madison, Morristown, and Wyckoff this year. This year's Lacrosse Fishawack Invitational takes place from 9am to 6 pm at Cougar Field on Watchung Avenue in Chatham. In case of inclement weather both Cougar and Shunpike turf fields will be used.  There will be a Fastest Shot competition during the day with a prize for the winner of each grade.   Thompson's Sporting Goods of Morris Avenue, Summit will be selling lacrosse equipment, lacrosse head stringing as well as clothing and providing music during the day. The Cougar Snack Shack will be open for refreshments and the Cougar Lacrosse Club will be selling 2012 Invitational T-shirts.

The shirt's Indian design was chosen from 5 submissions this year for the TShirt Design competition hosted by the Planning Committee. The winning design was submitted by 7th grade student Alec Gonzalez pictured below along with the other Chatham Middle school students who submitted some great ideas (pictured below holding their designs from left to right:  Drew Sardini -6th, Zachary Lima -7th, Alec Gonzalez - 7th, Anya Raadam -8th and Connor Slattery -7th.) Come and watch some great lacrosse and enjoy the day.  Directions can be found on the Cougar Lacrosse Club website.
