Cougars Fall 7-0 to Morris Knolls

Kaufman and Monks both break 200.

ROCKAWAY — The Chatham Cougars bowling team dropped another tough match to one of the conference's top teams on Thursday evening at Rockaway Lanes, this time to Morris Knolls, 7-0.

On a tough day for the Cougars, some bright spots included junior Brendan Kaufman's 202 game and senior Alex Monks' 213 game.

Monks, who has been red-hot lately, kept it up through his first two games but slowed in his third as fatigue may have played a factor in loss of ball speed. Monks shot a 164 in his third game and totaled a 558 series.

Kaufman's 548 series was second best behind Monks, who led the Cougars.

The top performer on the day, though, sported green and black, as Morris Knolls' Samantha Hessler recorded a 648 series, including games of 233 and 246. John Rotella also looked impressive as he bowled two games over 200 for a 528 series.

"Again we bowled one of the top four teams in the conference. Unfortunately, we lost 0-7, but Alex Monks had a nice 213 game and a nice series, Brandon Kaufman's 202 game was very impressive and Tommy DeVito was very consistent," Head Coach Craig Swartz said after the match.

Other Chatham scores included a 474 by junior DeVito and a 410 by freshman Bailey Bancroft.

"All in all we'll get ready for Delbarton next Tuesday. We should do well against Delbarton," Swartz added.

Chatham will see Delbarton at 4 p.m. on Tuesday at Rockaway Lanes.
