Come to Chatham's Own Opening Day

National anthems, ceremonial first pitches, even a mascot.

You don't have to go to New York City to partake in the sheer joy and unbridled hope, not to mention fun and games, that accompany baseball's Opening Day. Opening Days are coming up right here in the Chathams over the next several days.

Chatham Baseball

Opening Day for the Baseball Club of Chatham is set for 9 a.m. Saturday at Shunpike Field, Nash Field and Milton Avenue School.

Each field will have a live singing of the national anthem, and ceremonial first pitches from the baseball's sponsors, and the Chatham Cougar will make an appearance.

Boys between kindergarten and eighth grade will play.

Chatham High School Baseball

The boys baseball team from Chatham High School has already started their season, but the Cougar Classic, a local springtime tradition, will take place on April 13.

The Cougars will host Summit, Mountain Lakes and Bernards High Schools at 2 and 4 p.m. Food and snacks will be sold at the Cougar Classic, and prizes will be given out to those who best show their Cougar pride.
