Field Hockey Earns No. 3 Seed in Upcoming MCT

Cougars set to face winner of Morristown-Beard vs. Mt. Olive in the first round.

The field hockey team, coming off a Morris County Tournament championship in 2010, has kept up its form this season, cruising to a 7-2 mark heading into this seasons’ tournament.

Led by a defense that has remained stout in 2011, allowing just over one goal per game, and an offense that has averaged just under four goals per contest, the Cougars locked up the No. 3 seed in this years' tourney, set to begin on Saturday, Oct. 1.

With losses to Madison and West Essex their only blemishes of 2011, the Cougars No. 3 seed is a clear indicator for a potential repeat performance of last season.

After a visit to the Morris County Tournament finals in 2010, which resulted in a loss to Chatham, the Madison field hockey team again looks primed to make an impact in the annual county tournament. After starting the season with wins in seven of its eight games played, the Dodgers were rewarded for their hot start with the No. 1 seed.
