Chatham Falls to Morris Knolls 8-3

The Golden Eagles overpowered the Cougars Monday in the Mennan Cup Semifinals.

The Cougars suffered a tough loss to Morris Knolls Monday with a final score of 8-3 in the Mennan Cup playoffs Monday night.

With the game tied at 1-1 at the end of the first period, it looked like it would be a close game. Morris Knolls came out and dominated the second period and never looked back.

Despite two goals from Trip Burke and one from Jake Pyhel, the Cougars fell short as Morris Knolls controlled the ice with seven players scoring.

Stephen Shears of Morris Knolls scored first at 4:50 in the first period followed by Chatham's Jake Pyhel at 13:33.

In the second period, the Golden Eagles had two of its four goals from senior Billy Kostecki. Chatham's Trip Burke scored at 11:22. By the end of the second period, the Cougars had 18 shots on goal compared to 27 by Morris Knolls.

The Cougars got off to a fast start in the third period with Trip Burke scoring his second goal at just ten seconds in. But The Golden Eagles charged back adding three more goals from Robert Casey, Jack Monahan and Dillon Garrity.

Chatham's record now stands at 17-3-3.
