Brennan Captures First in Wrestling Tournament

On Wednesday, many of Chatham High School's wrestlers won some of the top spots at the Mountain Lakes tournament.

Wednesday was a great day for Cougar wrestling, with many members of the high school team placing in top spots at the Mountain Lakes wrestling tournament.

Wednesday's results:

  • Kieran Brennan was the sole Cougar to end with a first place finish at the tournament.
  • Sean Coyne was the only Cougar to take second at the tournament.
  • Dylan Mucahy ended with a third place finish, and Dave Lappin took home fourth.
  • Steve Johe, Tom Penn, and Anthony Lofredo finished in fifth place in their weight classes.

On Thursday, the wrestling team narrowly lost to Holmdel.

Friday's sports schedule:

  • Boys and girls indoor track is away at an invitational tournament at Drew University. The tournament started at 9 a.m.
  • Boys varsity ice hockey is competing in a tournament with a game against Pequannock scheduled for 11:30 a.m.
  • There will be various Cougar Classic tournament games held at Chatham High School. At 2 p.m. Hunterdon Central girls varsity will face Oak Knoll. At 4 p.m., Morristown High School boys varsity will face Millburn. The 6 p.m. game will be between the varsity girls team of Chatham High School and Columbia. The final game at 8 p.m. will be between the Chatham High School boys and New Providence.

  • The athletic booster club will meet on Jan. 3 at 6 p.m. in the Chatham High School Media Center.
  • The girls lacrosse organizational meeting will be held at 2:45 p.m. in the high school cafeteria on Wednesday, Jan. 4. Forms for pre-season work outs, preliminary schedules, and spirit wear will be distributed, so attendance is recommended to any girl interested in playing lacrosse during the spring 2012 season.
